Privacy Policy
Effective date: 14 August 2026
We're two founders who are also users of this app. We built Getupp because we wanted it, not to build an ad network. This policy is written to be readable by humans, not only lawyers. If something is unclear, email us: hello@getupp.co.
1. What Getupp does
Getupp is an iOS app that uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls technology to temporarily block the apps you choose during a morning window you define. Each morning, those apps remain blocked until you take a live photo confirming you are out of bed. Once the photo is verified, your apps are unlocked for the day.
The app is a digital wellbeing tool. It is not a parental-control product; it is designed for adults who want to change their own morning habits. You are always in control of which apps are blocked and during which time window.
2. Screen Time & app-blocking data
Getupp uses Apple's Family Controls framework to apply and remove app restrictions. All Screen Time data — including which apps are blocked and for how long — is processed entirely on your device. This data never leaves your phone and is never sent to our servers.
We do not collect, store, sell, or share any Screen Time or app-usage information. Apple's framework enforces this at the OS level.
- We cannot see which apps you block.
- We cannot see your app-usage history.
- We cannot access Screen Time data outside the scope of your session on your device.
3. Your verification photo
Each morning, Getupp asks you to take a live photo to confirm you are out of bed. Here is exactly what happens to that photo:
- Your photo is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS) to our AI verification service, which is powered by Anthropic's API.
- The AI analyzes the photo solely to determine whether you appear to be out of bed.
- The photo is deleted immediately after analysis. We never store it.
- No human at Getupp ever sees your photo.
- We keep only the result (pass or fail), the timestamp, and your streak count.
Anthropic acts as a data processor on our behalf for photo verification. Anthropic does not use data sent via their API to train their models. For Anthropic's current API data usage policy, visitanthropic.com/privacy.
4. Account & email
If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address. We use it only to notify you when Getupp is available on the App Store and to send occasional pre-launch updates. We do not sell your email address. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes.
You can unsubscribe from waitlist emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send. After launch, account deletion will remove your email and all associated data from our servers.
We use Supabase to store waitlist emails. Supabase is a US-based cloud infrastructure provider. For more information, seesupabase.com/privacy.
5. This website
Everything above is about the iOS app. This section is about getupp.co, which is a different thing with different rules.
We run paid ads, and we need to know whether they work. So the website — unlike the app — does use third-party analytics. These tools set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser:
- Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager. Tells us how many people visit, where they came from, and how far down the page they get before leaving.
- Microsoft Clarity. Records anonymised session replays and heatmaps — clicks, scrolls, mouse movement — so we can see which parts of the page confuse people. The email field is masked, so what you type into it is never captured.
- Meta Pixel. Tells us whether someone who clicked one of our Facebook or Instagram ads went on to join the waitlist, and reports that back to Meta.
None of these run inside the iOS app. None of them ever receive your verification photos or your Screen Time data — that stays on your device, as described in sections 2 and 3.
If you'd rather not be measured: any standard tracker or content blocker stops all three, and the site works perfectly well without them. Google also publishes abrowser opt-out add-on for Analytics.
6. Data we do not collect
- We do not sell your data. Ever.
- We do not serve ads. (We buy them — see section 5.)
- We do not share personal data with third parties except as described above (Anthropic for photo verification; Supabase for email storage; the website analytics providers in section 5).
- We do not use tracking pixels or third-party analytics SDKsin the app. The website is a separate matter — section 5 lists exactly what runs there.
- We do not access your contacts, location, microphone, or camera roll — only the live photo you explicitly take within the app.
7. Children
Getupp is intended for users aged 17 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify waitlist subscribers by email and update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
